PDM Magazine assembled their own “Toy Test Dream Team” to evaluate the newest towables of 2013 and chose their favorites for their May issue. After noting that a towable is “an investment in a good time for the entire family” they set to find out which tubes were most worth the money. Incredible features, attention to design, and the ability to generate a fun ride set a great tube part. All in all, the PDM Magazine Toy Test Dream Team rate Sportsstuff and Airhead towables as very worthy of the investment.
The test team loved the Sportsstuff Rockin Mable for the versatility it provides with its dual tow points. You can tow up to two riders on it slowly in the forward position, so that it offers the comfort of a water ride on a large sofa. Reverse it, and at faster speeds riders will enjoy a rollicking ride. “Sportsstuff knows what it takes and plans on delivering every time." The test team gave it 5 out of 5 stars.
The Sportsstuff Wacky Whopper drew a lot of attention due to its unusual wavelike shape. They found it to be “crazy fun” since it glides across the water effortlessly with up to three on board. Its long length allows users to stretch out and the design makes it easy to hold on during hard turns. They gave it 4 stars.
Another top favorite is the Airhead Tremor, which also was rated at 5 out of 5 stars. Also a very versatile tube, riders can feel more protected if they sit or kneel inside the cockpit. To experience a wilder ride, they can sit higher up on top of the horse shoe shaped backrest. The test team found that the round backrest and thick air chamber give it “a ton of bounce on the water.” It can also be tethered to your boat or dock and serve as a relaxing island when you want to put your feet up.
